How to read the chart
- 01Find your sign in the first column.
- 02Read across the row to the other person’s sign.
- 03Select a cell to see the full breakdown in the calculator.
Why the chart has a pattern
The chart repeats in diagonal bands because the score depends mainly on how many signs apart two signs are. Signs four apart (trines) share an element and sit in the brightest band. Signs three apart (squares) share a modality but not an element, and they form the darkest band. That is also why the chart reads the same from either side: Aries with Leo and Leo with Aries are the same distance apart.
Best and hardest matches for each element
Fire signs (Aries, Leo, Sagittarius) score highest with each other and then with air. Earth signs (Taurus, Virgo, Capricorn) score highest with each other and then with water. Air signs (Gemini, Libra, Aquarius) pair best with each other and with fire, and water signs (Cancer, Scorpio, Pisces) pair best with each other and with earth. The hardest cells are squares, where two signs share a modality but their elements clash, such as fire with water or earth with air.
Frequently asked questions
Which signs are least compatible?
The lowest score on the chart, 38, belongs to squares between signs of the same modality, such as Aries and Cancer, Taurus and Leo, or Gemini and Virgo.
Why do opposite signs score well?
Opposite signs, 180° apart, always share a modality and have compatible elements (fire with air, earth with water). The pull is strong even though they approach life from opposite ends.
Is the chart the same as the calculator?
Yes. Both use the same scoring rule, so a cell on the chart always matches the calculator result for that pair.
